The Story Behind Aces Custom Shop
Aces Custom Shop started with a dream, a classic car, and a decision to learn how to build it himself.
My name is Chris Reyes, and I'm the owner of Aces Custom Shop in Miami, Florida. Long before Aces Custom Shop became a business, working on cars was simply a hobby and a dream I had growing up.
In 2007, I bought my first classic car — a 1960 Chevrolet Impala 4-door flattop. At first, I did some minor work to get the car running. But before long, I wanted to take it much further and build the car the way I had envisioned it.
So I started calling shops in the area to see what it would cost to have a complete build done. The lowest quote I received was more than $60,000.
Instead of walking away from the project, I looked at it differently. I thought, If I'm going to spend that kind of money, why not learn how to do the work myself?
So I bought a welder, bought some sheet metal, and started learning. There was no shortcut. I learned through trial and error, working through the challenges that came with learning automotive metalwork, fabrication, bodywork, and restoration on my own project.
That first Impala became much more than a hobby. It became the foundation for what would eventually become Aces Custom Shop.

From One Classic Car to Aces Custom Shop
Over the years, the skills I developed working on my own projects grew into a passion for helping other people build, restore, repair, and customize their vehicles. That eventually led to opening Aces Custom Shop in Miami.
Today, instead of spending most of my time working on my own Impala, I spend my days focused on customer vehicles and custom automotive projects.
Aces Custom Shop works on a wide range of automotive projects, including collision and auto body repair, automotive painting and refinishing, classic car restoration, custom car builds, hot rod builds, muscle car restoration, custom fabrication, metal fabrication, custom paint, and vehicle wraps.
The shop serves customers throughout Miami and surrounding South Florida communities, including Doral, Kendall, Miami Beach, Brickell, Hialeah, North Miami, Miami Gardens, and communities throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
The Impala Isn't Finished Yet
There's a funny part to the story.
The 1960 Chevy Impala that started all of this still isn't finished.
The good news is that all of the metalwork has been completed, and the car is sitting in primer. The bad news is that it's still sitting in primer.
Opening the shop changed my priorities. These days, customer cars come first, so my own Impala doesn't get nearly as much of my time as I'd like.
But that's part of what makes the car special. It represents where Aces Custom Shop came from — a kid's dream, a classic car, a $60,000 quote, a welder, some sheet metal, plenty of trial and error, and the decision to figure things out.
The Impala may not be finished yet, but the dream that started with it has grown into Aces Custom Shop.
Building Cars With Experience That Started in the Garage
Aces Custom Shop was built from a genuine passion for cars and the hands-on experience that comes from learning by doing.
From repairing collision damage and restoring classic vehicles to custom fabrication, paint, and one-of-a-kind automotive builds, every project starts with understanding what the customer wants to accomplish with their vehicle.
Whether you're restoring a classic car, building a hot rod, repairing collision damage, changing the appearance of a vehicle, or creating something completely custom, Aces Custom Shop brings the same hands-on approach that started with one 1960 Impala.
Aces Custom Shop is located in Miami, Florida and serves automotive customers throughout Miami and the surrounding South Florida area.
